Nursing and Midwifery Refresher Program

Graduate Nurse / Midwifery Program

Bass Coast Health currently offers:

Registered Nurse Graduate programs with two intakes per year:

  • February and April 

Registered Nurse / Midwifery Graduate programs with one intake per year

  • February

Graduate Nurse programs are for the duration of 12 months 0.8 EFT and which may include potential rotations across a variety of departments at both the Wonthaggi and San Remo sites (two rotations per program).

Graduate programs are currently offered in the following clinical areas

  • Emergency
  • Perioperative
  • Sub-Acute
  • Medical
  • Aged Care
  • District nursing
  • Haemodialysis
  • Surgical ward

Bass Coast Health Graduate Nurses are provided with ongoing support from the Graduate Coordinator and Clinical Support Nurses within the Learning and Development team based at Wonthaggi and San Remo in conjunction with the clinical staff they work with. 

Included within the 12-month program are four paid study days, enabling the development and consolidation of current and additional skills, as well as exposure to other areas within the Health Service. 

Applications to the Graduate Nurse / Midwifery program at Bass Coast Health are made through the PMCV (Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria) Allocation and Placement Service. Please find further information in the links below.

Allied Health Graduate and Intern Program

 

Bass Coast Health currently offers Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Graduate Programs (Grade 1, Rotational Positions) and a Pharmacy Intern Program with a start of calendar year intake. 

Graduate and Intern Programs are for the duration of 12 months and include potential rotations across a variety of departments at Bass Coast Health’s campuses (several rotations per program).

Graduate Programs are currently offered in the following clinical areas

  • Sub-Acute (OT and Physiotherapy)
  • Medical (OT and Physiotherapy)
  • Aged Care (Physiotherapy)
  • Community (Physiotherapy)
  • Inpatient (Pharmacy)

Bass Coast Health Graduate and Interns are provided with ongoing support from the Graduate Coordinator, Regional Allied Health Educators and Clinical Support Staff within the Learning and Development team based at Wonthaggi in conjunction with the clinical staff they work with. All newly graduated Allied Health staff (including those from other Allied Health Professions) are included in a Regional Interprofessional Allied Health New Graduate Support Program which includes monthly sessions throughout the year.

Included within the 12 month program are three paid study days, enabling the development and consolidation of current and additional skills, as well as exposure to other areas within the Health Service.

Applications to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Graduate Program’s at Bass Coast Health are made via job advertisements posted on Bass Coast Health’s website. Pharmacy Intern applications are via the Victorian Hospital Pharmacy Intern Program, administered by SHPA.
