Staff and consumers at Phillip Island Health Hub at Cowes now have access to barista made coffee and a fridge full of food on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The Phillip Island Health Hub Auxiliary donated $14,500 for the purchase of a coffee cart which means staff and members of the public can purchase beverages or a snack.
Next to the coffee cart, in the Hub reception area, there is also a vending fridge with a variety of healthy drinks and food. Together, the cart and fridge provide a convenient selection of coffee and food options for patients, families and staff.
The coffee cart is currently open 9am-1pm Monday-Wednesday.
Outgoing Auxiliary President Lyn Wadeson said the Auxiliary raised the funds through such fundraising as horse racing days, raffles and trivia nights.
“This coffee cart is a great way of supporting the hard-working staff at the Health Hub by giving them the chance to buy a quality coffee and enjoy some down-time during their busy days,” she said.
“Consumers coming for appointments or to access the Urgent Care Centre will also have the chance to unwind with a cuppa while they wait.
“All this would not have been possible without the support our wonderful community has provided to our Auxiliary, and in turn Bass Coast Health. We’re so lucky to have a generous community that is so willing to support their public healthcare service.”
BCH CEO Jan Child thanked the Phillip Island Health Hub Auxiliary for their ongoing support.
“We’re fortunate to have a dedicated group of lovely volunteers who provide so many entertaining events for our community, all in the name of supporting our health service,” she said.
The Phillip Island Health Hub is located at 50-54 Church Street, Cowes, for appointments with BCH staff and specialists.
The Urgent Care Centre is open 24/7 for the treatment of minor illnesses and injuries. Always phone 000 for an ambulance during an emergency.
