Bass Coast Health (BCH) is paying tribute to the special staff who strive to provide the best care possible to the elderly residents of Bass Coast and South Gippsland shires.
Aged Care Employee Day on Thursday 7 August is a day to recognise the more than 370,000 people who care for and support around 1.5 million older Australians who receive aged care services.
BCH takes pride in operating two residential care facilities, Kirrak House at Wonthaggi and Griffiths Point Lodge at San Remo. As the sub-regional health service for the Bass Coast and South Gippsland shires, BCH’s aged care services also include Sub-Acute, Transitional Care, Allied Health, Flexihealth and Residential In-Reach.
“BCH is well served by hard-working staff dedicated to ensuring our senior citizens receive the best care possible at a time of their lives when they need it most,” BCH Interim CEO Simone Alexander said.
“These staff are in our residential care facilities, at our hospitals and offices, and in the community, working as a team and individually to be there for the elderly when they need them.
“Our fabulous staff include Nurses, Personal Care Workers, Diversional Therapists, Food Services staff, Care workers, Support Services staff, Administration staff and Volunteers who value the privilege they hold in helping our valued seniors to live as independently as possible, wherever they may reside.
“At the same time, their passion for their work and their genuine interest in our residents, patients and clients rewards them with bonds with the people they’re caring for, as well as their families. It’s a role – and a career path – where the benefits are many and varied.”
