Emergency nurses offered opportunities at BCH

News

Bass Coast Health (BCH) is seeking nurses who are keen to advance their careers by working in our new Emergency Department at the Wonthaggi Hospital Expansion (WHE).

The new Emergency Department is scheduled to open in December this year and will provide the very best in equipment and facilities.

“Emergency nurses will also have the chance to work in our high acuity, fast-paced environment and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses,” BCH CEO Jan Child said.

“We know that staff who come here get an experience that enhances their skillset. We are keen to make sure we invest in our nursing and medical staff in the ED to make sure they are well equipped to deal with whatever comes through the front door.

“We are very keen to support staff who want to pursue postgraduate studies and we are particularly keen to invest in nurses who have an interest in becoming nurse practitioners.”

New nurses will be welcomed with open arms and enjoy the full support of our existing experienced and enthusiastic Emergency team, as well as our Learning and Development team.

“Our current emergency nurses are embracing the opportunities available to diversify their skills, such is the diversity of practising nursing in a regional area,” Ms Child said.

“You never know what might come through the door but whatever it is, you can be sure that every day is different, and every day brings a new challenge and a new learning opportunity.”

Alyssa Hughes is an Associate Nurse Unit Manager in our Emergency Department.

“I love the diversity of the patients, the department and the team. We have lots of fun, we’re very well supported and there are lots of chances to further your education,” she said.

“Bass Coast Health offers lots of great opportunities and we all band together to welcome our junior staff.”
