Bass Coast Health is closer to being able to offer surgical services for endometriosis after yet another successful fundraiser driven by three local businesses, and backed by many other businesses and the wider community.

The annual Ambrose Golf Day fundraiser at Wonthaggi Golf Club raised approximately $35,000 for the purchase of theatre equipment to support the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis at Wonthaggi Hospital.

The fundraiser featured a golf game with more than 100 players and a lunch on Sunday 9 November, along with the famous Golf Ball Drop. Supporters bought a numbered golf ball, which was placed in a basket and dropped from a cherry picker over a green. The ball that landed in the hole won $2,500! The winner was Simon Pegg. Christine Burns won the mega raffle of two nights’ accommodation in a three-bedroom apartment at Docklands.

The annual fundraiser is organised by Alison Adams of Revive Beauty and Spa, Melissa Stirton of Headlines Hairdressing, and Michael and Sue Turton of The Cape Tavern. Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Melissa Stirton thanked supporters and participants for helping to ensure the fundraiser was a success.

“What an incredible day! The event was such fun and there was an amazing community atmosphere,” she said.

“We are always thrilled with the generosity shown by our community and their support of this year’s event was no exception.

“Thank you so much to everyone who played, donated, sponsored, volunteered and cheered us on. Your support has made a real impact for women’s health in our region.”

BCH Interim CEO Simone Alexander said the health service was extremely grateful for the significant support shown by Melissa, Alison, and Michael and Sue Turton - as well as the community - over many years.

“It’s events like this that remind us of how highly our community values their public health service,” she said.

“The amount of money raised by this event is tremendous and will enable us to provide an even greater range of care to our community, closer to their homes. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to the success of this fundraiser.”
