Golf fundraiser supports surgical care for women

Women living with endometriosis will have access to improved care and better quality of life thanks to the community-funded purchase of a new surgical machine at Wonthaggi Hospital.

The annual Ambrose Golf Day fundraiser at Wonthaggi Golf Club in November 2025 raised approximately $35,000 for the purchase of a diathermy unit to support the evidence-based treatment of endometriosis.

The fundraiser featured a golf game with more than 100 players and a lunch, along with the famous Golf Ball Drop. Supporters bought a numbered golf ball, which was placed in a basket and dropped from a cherry picker over a green. The ball that landed in the hole won $2,500.

Bayside Health Regional Chief Executive Officer, Lou Sparkes, thanked the community who attended the golf fundraiser and the organisers, Alison Adams of Revive Beauty and Spa, Melissa Stirton of Headlines Hairdressing, and Michael and Sue Turton of The Cape Tavern.

“We value the support we receive from Alison, Melissa, Michael and Sue in organising this annual fundraiser and for everyone who played golf on the day or bought a raffle ticket. We’re so fortunate to have the backing of such a giving community,” she said.
