Join the Bass Coast Health team

Bass Coast Health (BCH) has welcomed with open arms the many new employees who have joined the BCH team over the past months and is actively recruiting more healthcare workers, particularly Nursing and Allied Health staff, who want to work in this dynamic health service.

The new Wonthaggi Hospital will open to the public in December this year and staff will have the opportunity to work in first class Emergency, Theatre and Surgical facilities.

The new Cancer Centre at Wonthaggi is offering contemporary Cancer Care in the new L. Rigby Centre. There are expanded home based services including the District, Palliative and COVID teams, and the Phillip Island Community Hospital is on the horizon for 2024, offering more specialist services locally.

“Across the nation, there are workforce shortfalls in healthcare,” BCH CEO Jan Child said, “and we are no exception. Thankfully, we also have seen very skilled and experienced staff come our way because they are attracted to our brilliant community and wonderful lifestyle. We continue to be on the search for skilled and compassionate healthcare workers who are looking for a sea change.

“Some of our recent starters are keen to recommend BCH as a great place to work! Not just because of the great BCH team that has worked here for years, but because it is a rewarding workplace with many opportunities for people to further their careers.”

Kassandra Elms is a great example of someone who has joined BCH as a Registered Nurse in Acute Ward.

“I love the good teamwork and work culture that I’ve experienced here since moving from Queensland in March,” she said.

“There are a lot of opportunities for education. We have a dedicated Learning and Development team that offers relevant and contemporary education options, and you can book in to do a course on-site or off-site.”

Acute Ward patient James Boyd appreciated the “sensational” quality of care he received from Kassandra and other staff during his recent stay at Wonthaggi Hospital – a reflection of the standard of nursing at BCH.

“It’s probably the best of the regional hospitals that I’ve come across,” he said.
