Volunteers help to keep our region healthy

This National Volunteer Week, Bayside Health Regional is celebrating the vital role volunteers play alongside our medical workforce in enhancing the health of our community.

Volunteers support our community, from Leongatha and Korumburra to Kooweerup, Wonthaggi and Phillip Island, to access public healthcare close to home and in Melbourne.

Bayside Health Regional CEO Louise Sparkes thanked the hundreds of volunteers for their vital contribution to delivering healthcare locally.

“Our volunteers give their time in many ways, from driving patients to appointments, wayfinding and gardening, to visiting patients in hospital, doing craft with our aged care residents, bus driving, administration and pet therapy,” she said.

“They also raise funds through our Auxiliaries so that we’re able to buy medical equipment that benefits our patients. They serve on our Community Advisory Panels locally and the broader Bayside Health Community Advisory Committee, offering guidance to ensure we’re delivering the care our community needs.

“We’re so fortunate to have the service of so many volunteers, who also enjoy the social opportunities and sense of pride that comes with helping others.

“We’re always looking for new volunteers, so if you’re interested in a rewarding role where you can make a difference, please join the volunteer team at Bayside Health Regional. We have opportunities available across all our sites.”
