Work behind the scenes continues to shape the new Community Hospital

News

Community members, staff and an expert consulting team (see above) are busy discussing how the new Phillip Island Community Hospital will look and operate when it opens in 2023/24. The group includes representatives from Bass Coast Health, Ambulance Victoria, the Victorian Health Building Authority, our local community and the consultant design team. The Phillip Island Community Hospital is one of 10 community hospitals being developed by the State Government. Our local group is taking our key learnings from the WHE, and other community hospitals, to ensure the best design and service is available to the Phillip Island community.

In addition to expanding existing services, new services will be offered including a day procedure service, day treatment centre (including Chemotherapy and Dialysis), mental health services, family violence services and dental services. An expanded Urgent Care Centre will be co-located with a new Radiology service so we can care for more people, on the Island. Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander First Nations Committee will provide feedback in early March to ensure the design reflects the cultural landscape of Millowl. And we are meeting with the Community Consultative Committee this week to share what we know. Watch this space.
