Dr Mitchell Chipman

Dr Mitchell Chipman is a physician who specialises in medical oncology and palliative care. He is a general oncologist but has a particular interest in breast cancer and cancers complicating chronic HIV infection and other immunosuppressive states.

Clinical trials are a mainstay of cancer medicine and he is a keen participant in clinical research. Multidisciplinary care is central to his practice, enabling the best possible outcomes for all patients.

His public work is at The Alfred and Private in East Melbourne. Outside direct patient care he sits on a number of boards and committees regarding doctors' health and new public health initiatives with DHHS. He has previously sat on a number of medical regulation and hospital boards. 

He participates actively in AHPRA hearings in Victoria. He is an honorary lecturer in medicine at Monash University where he did his basic training. Outside medicine he is a keen musician and sits on the board of The Melba Opera Trust.

His professional memberships are: Royal Australian College of Physicians, Australian Medical Association, Australia and New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
