Op Shop volunteers fundraise for vital Theatre equipment

Bass Coast Health (BCH) has expressed its enormous gratitude to the volunteers of the San Remo Opportunity Shop.
Through sorting and selling quality secondhand goods from the popular op shop, the volunteers raised $74,700 to enable the purchase of an ultrasound machine at Wonthaggi Hospital.
The machine will be used in Theatre and be particularly beneficial during the performing of caesarean births.
Bass Coast Health CEO Jan Child said the amount raised was a tremendous sum for the volunteers.
“The Op Shop volunteers have very proudly worked hard to raise these funds to enable the purchase of this vital piece of equipment,” she said.
“This has been no easy feat given the COVID lockdowns we endured, which meant the Op Shop had to close for an extended period of time.
“Bass Coast Health also wishes to thank the community members and tourists who shopped at the Op Shop and in turn supported our health service.”
The Op Shop is open Monday-Friday, 10am-2.30pm, and is located at 65D Back Beach Road, San Remo.
