Dr Roshan Ariyaratnam

Dr Roshan Ariyaratnam is a General Surgeon with interests in Colorectal and Abdominal Wall Surgery. He was born and raised in the United Kingdom, where he completed his medical education at Imperial College London Medical School in 2008. 

Following his graduation, he began his career in the National Health Service (NHS), gaining valuable early experience in centres such as St Mark’s Hospital in London and Colchester General Hospital.

In 2011, Roshan became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Seeking new challenges and opportunities, he decided to migrate to Australia to pursue advanced surgical training in General Surgery.

He obtained his Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2022 after training through Eastern Health and Western Health. Roshan has gained valuable exposure to General Surgery in a regional setting through his rotations in Bendigo and Shepparton (GV Health). 

More recently Roshan has developed an interest in Robotic Surgery and is actively pursuing further training in this new and exciting area of minimally invasive surgery. 

Roshan is involved in research, having completed a research degree with publications in prominent international surgical journals. In addition to his clinical work, Roshan is known for his mentoring approach to medical students, surgical residents and registrars. 

He enjoys sharing his knowledge and expertise with others, hoping to inspire the next generation of surgical professionals.
